MMTA’s summer social coaching groups are back for 2025! If you’re interested in a group, applications are being accepted now!
Our summer social coaching groups are for conversational individuals looking for direct coaching that leads to better conversation and to sustained relationships. For our older clients, we might even talk about dating!
Groups involve intensive practice with specific individualized skills that guide participants through aspects of social understanding or social expression that are interfering with relationship-building. Outcomes include improving social interaction, enhancing social awareness and understanding, fostering empathy and perspective-taking, learning the language of social interactions, building confidence in social situations, and promoting positive social relationships.
We have 2 types of groups in the summer:
Full-summer groups that run from June 16th through August 22nd and meet for an hour each week in the late afternoon/early evening (TBD), with a 15-minute individual coaching session scheduled between group sessions (coaching sessions can be virtual)
4-day intensives that run mid-June or late August for 90 minutes for 4 days with a 15-minute individual coaching session scheduled immediately before or immediately after the group session. Dates for this summer are 6/23-6/26, 8/11-14, and 8/18-21.
Our full-summer groups meet weekly and address fundamental skills and those that crop up in life for individuals as we move along. They culminate in a social outing planned by group participants, and many of these groups choose to continue during the school year, as well.
Our 4-day intensives tackle 1-2 skills and provide a high rate of practice and coaching to build mastery. Some clients choose to attend more than once in a summer!
All of our groups contain 4-8 participants and are taught by fun, licensed speech-language pathologists with expertise in social engagement and social cognition. Meet our staff by clicking the “About” tab!
We are so proud of these groups that go beyond other groups by:
Writing individualized lessons for each specific group and its participants,
Using data to guide teaching practices,
Providing the coaching feedback loop that is missing in most social groups, and
Building relationships and community.

It’s a great way for us to get to know one another to help facilitate well-matched summer groups while having some fun!
